HOME GROWN

Featuring the emerging artist of Bergen Community College's Professor Andy Krikun's rising young talents along with Garden State performers.

Enjoy singer-songwriter Gina Zavalis, a native New Yorker, who has a lifelong passion for music and years of singing in a variety of musical styles behind her success. Gina began her career as a young girl in Off Broadway performances and musicals .

Mark D. Conklin from New Jersey describes himself as “Like Springsteen…only funnier…but not NEARLY as cool!” He has been called a “musical monster” by Jim Longo (Talent Agent for the Watchung Arts Center) and as a “mighty, mighty talent” by (Songwriter of the Year), Angela Kaset. His music is truly American, blending his background in classic rock and blues with the craft of Nashville songwriting that he has honed for the last several years while regularly commuting to Music City. His songs are smart, satirical and soulful in the vein of Randy Newman and John Hiatt. He writes lyrics for “people who are old enough to remember life before the internet.” As he puts it, “It’s not folk music, it’s GROWN folk music!” He has entertained audiences from the Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. His performances mix a fair amount of clever story telling and comedy along with a few heartbreaking songs. As one fan put it, “You’ll laugh until you cry!”
